The Stock Our Shelves Food Drive is an annual food drive sponsored by MANNA's Volunteers and Providers (MVP) and supports MANNA’s mission to leave no one unfed.
Scheduled for the summer, the drive is timed to bring needed re-supply to MANNA's pantry shelves during the long summer months, when the community's support generally wanes. The focus for the re-supply is on nonperishable canned and dry goods. Canned foods can be vegetables, fruit, meat, fish and soup. Dry goods can be rice, pasta, breakfast foods, dry beans, powered milk and peanut butter.
The design of the SOS Drive is geared to make this as convenient for the donor as possible. The drive actually happens at area grocery stores on a Saturday, the busiest shopping time of the week according to our grocers. When you go shopping for the week's groceries for your family you 'll be greeted by a MANNA volunteer at the entrance to our partner groceries. MANNA's volunteers wil have suggestion for the grocery items MANNA is most in need of at the time, although any and all donations are greatly appreciated. When you're shopping simply pick up and extra item or two, or a cartful, to donate to MANNA on your way out.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE:
The public can support this food drive in several ways. First, you can donate food items. Simply choose one of our grocery partners for your weekly shopping, and purchase a few additional items to drop with MANNA's volunteers on your way out. We also need volunteer drivers who will assist in setting up the collection sites in the morning before the start tiime, as well as drivers who will assist in collecting the donations in the afternoon at the conclusion of the drive. The weeks following the drive you can volunteer to sort food at MANNA’s warehouse.
