Souper Bowl Sunday is an annual food drive organized by MANNA and held in collaboration with the faith-based community. Parishes are contacted in advance by MANNA drive organizers to solicit their participation. Collection ideas and support materials are made available before the event , with a list of items most needed by MANNA to satisfy the emergency food needs of its clients.
Food collections received from parishioners on Super Bowl Sunday are delivered to MANNA’s main warehouse by congregational volunteers, or may be picked up by MANNA volunteers if the congregation cannot deliver the donation without assistance.
WHEN & WHERE:
The annual Souper Bowl Sunday is held each year on Super Bowl Sunday. Before the big game, nonperishable donations are collected during church services at all participating local parishes and delivered to MANNA’s main pantry for sorting and distribution to clients in need.
SPONSOR:
MANNA's Volunteers and Providers and participating local faith communities.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE:
Souper Bowl Sunday is a food raising event in which every member of the community can participate. You can donate nonperishable goods during the food collection. MANNA would greatly benefit as well if you can encourage your place of worship to participate by promoting the event in the church bulletin.
You can also participate as a volunteer by helping MANNA to canvas the faith-based community for support, or by sorting food goods as they are delivered in the afternoon on Super Bowl Sunday and/or picking up donated items following weekly services.
